**Crayfish**

Photography by Leo Saunders

From their conception in 2000 in the Cotswold town of Cirencester, Crayfish have been rocking Gloucestershire, whether through their original goal to be “hailed as the worst band in the west-country” or the reputation of dominance over the local music scene they have now earned.

Crayfish can pull a crowd wherever they go......locally in Cirencester, Cheltenham and Gloucester and even Birmingham at the musically acclaimed Eddie’s No. 8.

However, this was not always the case for at first Crayfish could clear halls and bars with their music. This finally ended in all the members leaving the band, except for one.

And what happened to that one you may ask?

Matthew Aldis bit the bullet and tried to make something of himself, of course.

So in 2003 lead singer, main songwriter and guitarist Matt, joined by bassist Felix Foster and drummer Rupert Irving, took on the new task of creating a gargantuan, behemoth-like sound.

They down tuned everything to destruction and recorded it. The results, surprisingly, were the foetal seed of a half-arsed good idea.

Finally, the introduction of J Evans on lead guitar created aspirations for something better......time to take the group in a weird and interesting new detuned direction.

2004 brought new success as Crayfish played the TMF festival, supporting stage headliners Breed 77 and Winnebago Deal.

But it is not over yet…
